Re: Friday, March 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at Moonrocks
in Bedford Hills
Hi,
I just wanted to alert you earlier than later about
this event as I expect it to be sold out by the
time tickets go on sale to the general public, as
space is limited to 100 people at Bedford Hills’
new recording studio, Moonrocks, on Adams Street.
Daun and I, along with Jon & Angela Kamen and
Vinny & Chrissy Celenza, are hosting a benefit
on Friday, March 2nd at 7:30 p.m. that will feature
local Bedford resident and three-time Grammy-Award
Winning Latin Jazz Pianist Michel Camilo and his
regular touring musicians, bassist Charles Flores
(2003 Grammy winner), and drummer Dafnis Prieto
(who is currently nominated for a Grammy for his
own recent album).
If you have never heard Michel perform, you will
not believe your ears, and if you have, then you
already know how special an event this is. Michel
plays in most of the world’s capitals and
has played Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center,
but rarely performs in the United States except
for once a year at the Blue Note (where his second
Grammy album was recorded – “Live at
the Blue Note”). Most of his venues seat 1,000
to 10,000 people, but this will be a very small,
intimate event.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to benefit
Michel’s Scholarship Fund at the Berklee College
of Music in Boston. The Fund is devoted to providing
financial aid to up-and-coming young musical stars
in his home country of the Dominican Republic to
enable them to come to the States and study at Berklee.
Besides Michel’s normal trio repertoire, he
will include a sneak preview of some of the new
pieces from his new album to be released in April
entitled “Spirit of the Moment”.
See the attached invitation for details. We cannot
hold tickets so please call ASAP if you would like
to attend!
Buffet supper will be served along with a vintage
wine tasting.
Best regards,
Peter Hauspurg |
