OBJECTIVES
I envision the creation of MoonRocks that will allow a venue
for the expression of creative talents both in science and in
the arts. In reality life cannot exist without both working in
synergy. It is interesting to see individuals interviewed on television
describe how lucky they have been in life and how much they enjoy
their work. Tom Hanks says that he thoroughly enjoys acting and
cannot believe how fortunate he has been. Of course it is easy
for people like Tom Hanks to enjoy life, he certainly makes enough
money. But there are people that make lots of money that are not
happy. What makes a person feel a sense of joy with the start
of each new day? What motivates the mind and stimulates the soul?
What makes a person say, “I can’t believe how lucky
that I am to be doing this.”
Certainly the prospect of making money is a motivator in choosing
a business/career direction. Money means freedom. Freedom from
financial pressures as well as the freedom to choose direction
based upon desire instead of necessity. Therefore money is a means
to an end. It is a facilitator of dreams. It is not the dream
itself.
The stress of financial pressures can be overwhelming. It can
paralyze you and lead to a predominant feeling of helplessness.
This in turn can skew perspective, thwart creativity, and initiate
a non-productive cycle of behavior. Add to the mix the lack of
control over a situation for an extended period of time and the
psyche deteriorates even further.
So what is the answer to economic and emotional health?

|
-
Passion for the process.
Strive to produce to your highest level creating a positive
feedback loop to all of your associations in business and in
personal relations.
-
Trust and Honesty.
We must trust and be honest to ourselves as well as to each
other. This is the only way to sustain inner and outer peace.
-
Fun. We have
to be able to laugh at ourselves and not take ourselves too
seriously. We have to laugh during our failures as well as our
triumphs. This doesn’t mean we will not strive for excellence
or learn from our mistakes. But humor can make the highs seem
higher and the lows easier to handle.
-
Support. We
need to surround ourselves with people that obviate our weakness
and accentuate our strengths. Further, these people must have
a positive outlook and be willing to work as a team. Negativity
and “employee mentality” has no place with us. There
is no quicker way to sabotage an organization of any kind than
having the wrong people working with you.
-
Quality. Quality
in our thoughts, in our interactions with others, in our associations,
as well as our product, whatever it may be.
-
Growth. Not
just for the sake of growth but for the expansion of our ideas,
sphere of influence, and creative development. Many great institutions
began to fail when they grew too fast or deviated from what
brought them success in the first place. It is here the saying,
“Measure twice, cut once” prevails.
-
Compassion, empathy,
and love. These are emotions that touch our hearts in
movies like “It’s a wonderful life.” It is
what makes us human and gives life meaning.
-
Forgiveness.
We must forgive ourselves as well as others. This does not mean
to forget and ignore injustices. It simply means letting go
of negative and angry feelings that serve no constructive purpose.
-
Rest. Everything
in life is cyclical. All biological processes from hormone production
to sleep patterns follow cycles. The sun rises, the sun sets.
Tides ebb and flow. Nature is cyclical. So should work be balanced
with rest.
-
Nothing is impossible
when failure is not an option. Just ask the crew of Apollo
13.
Fulfillment is within reach of all of us. Balance in life leads
to joy which leads to prosperity, which leads to inner peace.
Stay centered within. I want to always be able to say. “I
can’t believe how lucky that I am to be doing this.”
